As a native russian who spent her childhood reading a lot of folk tales I can tell that this book is very good translation of some of the tales. Author gives some information about background of Russian folk mythology and culture which is very helpfull for non-russian reader to understand the tales and russian culture in general.
Interesting little book of Russian folk tales and lore. The thing about fairy tales is that even though there is a moral hidden in each story not all the characters come to a good end. My favorites were Catofay Ivanovich, an elderly somewhat grouchy Tom-cat and of course Vasilissa the Wise/5.
